Integrative Psychotherapist working in Little Venice, central London

Welcome, I hope this website can provide some information, what I do and how I can help. Please get in touch if you would like to know more.

I am clinical psychotherapist accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy practising either in person from my office in central London or online.

Therapy is not just for moments of crisis. When we can focus on the patterns, beliefs and deep-seated feelings that are driving our behaviour, we can begin to put the work in towards becoming the most authentic versions of ourselves and fulfilling our potential.

I offer a free discovery call where we can talk about the issues you are facing and how therapy can help. I create a safe non-judgmental space, where we can hold a mirror and see what is going on inside. This is not about apportioning blame or being stuck in the past, it is about awareness and acknowledgment of what narrative is affecting our choices and where our blind spots may be. Taking your first step into therapy is a bold sign of strength and the beginning of your journey to wonderful healing.

Do you want to make a change?

Do you want to understand yourself better?

Where shall we begin?

My Approach

My sessions are rooted in Integrative Psychotherapy which combines different therapeutic tools and provides for a flexible approach I can tailor to an individual’s unique needs. I use a range of methods and approaches to fit your personality, preferences and situation with the intention that, through this work, you will discover your true self and begin to find your own answers to life’s many challenges.

I am interested in mindfulness and meditation as tools that encourage us to become aware of our experiences, thoughts and feelings. I bring playfulness and creativity into the therapy room by using sand trays, spirit guides and dream work. I use intuitive and creative powers as methods of self-expression to make sense of that which is painful, to create personal meaning and to enhance wellness. I bring these and other creative techniques into my practice to form a holistic plan for growth and healing.

My area of expertise includes anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship, trauma and family dynamics. I have a keen interest in psychosomatic illnesses, particularly back pain.

EMDR Training & Professional Background

I am pleased to share that I have completed Level 1 EMDR training with Alexandra Richman, MA.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly researched, evidence-based psychotherapy developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987. Her early work revealed that distressing thoughts and emotions often decrease when paired with specific eye movements, leading to the development of a structured therapeutic approach aimed at reducing the impact of traumatic memories.

Today, EMDR is widely recognized as a gold-standard treatment for trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Research consistently demonstrates that EMDR is one of the most effective and cost-efficient therapies for adults experiencing trauma-related symptoms.

In my practice, EMDR can be used to support clients struggling with a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Phobias
  • Medically unexplained symptoms
  • Addictions
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder
  • Challenges related to aging
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Recent traumatic or distressing events
  • Forensic and court-related issues

I am committed to offering trauma-informed, evidence-based care, and I look forward to integrating EMDR into my therapeutic work to support healing, resilience, and long-term well-being.

Article in Welldoing Magazine - Meet the Therapist: Ella Shtaingos

What attracted you to become a therapist?

I decided to train as a therapist later in life after experiencing chronic back pain. At that time, I was working as a tour guide but had to stop because I was struggling to walk. Through therapy, I discovered that the root cause of my back pain was emotional unhappiness. I came to therapy because I wanted to be happy. It sounds simple in theory but not in practice. My road to full recovery was bumpy, but I was fortunate to be treated by a wonderful therapist.

For me, therapy is about feeling good. We all encounter challenges in daily life....
